Tennis time-violation rules should be reformed because inconsistent enforcement can unfairly swing big points, and clearer standards with less discretion would reduce controversy while still preventing deliberate delays.

Similar to basketball, some people believe that rules should be altered when the game is coming to an end. When the ref calls a foul with 12 seconds left, people complain that the ref is trying to hijack the game, but the truth is that the rules are the rules. If you commit an action that would be a foul at the start of the game, it should be a foul until the final buzzer. There was most likely a similar foul earlier in the game, so why should one be a foul and the other not? Applying this to Tennis, if a rule is applied anytime in a game, it should be applied throughout the entire game. If someone can get a time violation at the start of the game, then if someone commits the same thing later in the game, they should face the punishment as well.

Rationale:The argument is factually sound, drawing parallels between basketball and tennis rules, which are generally accurate. It avoids major logical fallacies, though it could be seen as a slippery slope by implying that altering rules late in the game would undermine fairness. The relevance is slightly lower as it focuses more on the philosophy of rule consistency rather than directly addressing tennis's specific time violation rules. The argument maintains a good balance of logic and emotion, emphasizing fairness and consistency.
