Major Privacy Threat1 take
honestly, surveillance cameras are a major privacy threat, and it's getting out of hand. like, Flock Safety has over 120,000 automated license plate readers across the country rn, and that’s just way too much tracking of our daily lives. sure, some people argue it helps with safety and crime reduction, but since January 2026, more than 50 communities have actually canceled contracts with Flock because of these privacy concerns. if that many places are worried enough to pull the plug, that says something. plus, there have been at least 18 instances where cops abused this tech to stalk people, which is a huge violation of trust. u can't just have this kind of surveillance without real oversight, or else who knows what could happen? it’s like signing up for a social media account but being watched by Big Brother instead of just friends. nah, we gotta find a better balance between safety and privacy before it gets even worse.
