Trump going against immigration is crazy. Half of intelligent people in States are Asian. The biggest tech leaders are mostly Indian. NVDA the company which is 15-17% of States GDP runs because of Jensen Huang a Taiwanese-American entrepreneur. 3/4 talent in States is Asian.

I disagree. Trump does not have a problem with immigration; rather he has a problem with illegal immigration and American jobs being lost to immigrants. The biggest leaders in tech are generally legal immigrants and Trump has actually invited them to the White House on multiple occasions

@vir Trump does a have problem with legal immigration since in his administration RAISE act came which stated that 50% legal immigrants would be deported which is quite a large number. M.R Trump even introduced H-1b visa which is quite immoral and unaffordable for poor students looking forward to study in America. Since India is not fine enough Indians look for opportunities in America for American dream. The fact that he invited tech leaders in White House on multiple occasions is because the immigrants are currently holding power as a leader of big tech firms.

@neeraj 1. The RAISE Act is not going to deport any legal immigrants. It is solely going to reduce the number of accepted legal immigrants by 50% each year. 2. He did not introduce the H-1B visa; rather he is trying to reduce the amount of given H1-B visas to make the job market less hostile to Americans. It is not for poor students, it is for skilled workers. Trump's measures are necessary following the devastating 4 years of the Biden administrations. Millions of aliens entered the country without the legal right to. Obama also engaged in mass deportations, proving that deportations are not unique to the Republican party or MAGA movement.

@vir you are right I was wrong about RAISE act but cutting future legal immigration is still bad for economy and restricting h1b is pushing tech giants offshore in India or Canada. This is even causing brain drain the talented and skilled workers are moving to the countries where they are welcomed. Countries like Canada and Germany are welcoming talent. Letting go the skilled and talented workers is a harm to the American economy. Wall Street and many of VCs oppose the restriction on immigration since it hurts the startups. Even YC agree with the fact that immigration in States is necessary as it brings great talent.
